OA: A Kapuso as well?!
October 27, 2006
Last May and June 2006, the Order of Asclepius was invited by Kapuso GMA-7 to help in their inter-district basketball league tournament. The tournament was conceptualized by a number noted of City councilors including Hon. Jed Mabilog and the station to promote unity and sportsmanship. The games were held every Saturday at different gymnasiums of participating districts in Iloilo. The finals however were held on the gymnasium of the University of San Agustin on the last week of the month of June.
Our participation include being the first aiders of each game, together with other organizations of the College that the station also invited. For the service of others, the OA has once again proven that it cannot only be a Kapamilya but a Kapuso as well.

Asclepians Raising Funds
October 27, 2006
Last summer, April 5, the Order conducted a Garage Sale at Leganes Public Plaza. The objective of the activity was to raise funds for upcoming activities and to add to a very much anticipated 30th Anniversary Celebration. The resident members felt the need of being resourceful and contributed goods from old clothes shoes, books, accessories to book shelves. The group managed to raise a modest amount that could surely go a long way.

Our Website, Up and Running!
October 27, 2006
A website for the Order has for a long time been just an idea, probably since the time internet broke out in Iloilo City. But as a medical student, it seemed difficult to find the time and resources to even try. It took a bit of fate and a lot of extra time, but finally we have our own place on the web, www.orderofasclepius.org. Our site is a place where we can show the world what we are about and the good things we do. It hopes to bring it’s members, our local and especially our internationally based alumni closer to the Order. It creates an avenue for interaction, support, and creation of new ideas which will further lift the Order to greater heights. The home page of the site is the starting point for all the features included in the site. All visitors, asclepian or not, are encouraged to sign the guestbook and leave a comment. You just click the guestbook icon on the lower left of the page. Also on this page you can find all the lateest updates, from the newest photos, latest edition of the asclepian voice to the most recent posts in the forum. The “Order” section will give you a brief background of our history and ideals. The “events” section showcases the activities of the Order both internal and community service. You can also find our calendar of event for the coming year and accomplishment report from the previous year. The Alumni section hopes to feature an online profile directory for all Asclepians. It is currently under construction but when it is 100% complete, asclepians will be able to find profiles of their fellow batchmates anywhere in the world. The “Photo Album” is for all asclepians to use and view. Here users can upload any pics they want. You can find photos from the good old days of the Order and new photos from the latest activities. If you have photos you would like to show, just click, “upload photo” from the menu, don’t forget to leave a description. The official publication of the Order, the “Asdepian Voice”, is also featured on the site. Read news, articles, and columns written by Asclepians. If you are an Asclepian with the gift to write you may want to have your own personal feature column or blog. Medically related or not, your blog will be seen on the homepage for all visitors to see. Just email the Lady Chronicler, Andrea Dimagiba atlc@orderofasclepius.org if you would like to write for us. Our “Forum” is maintained by the alumni site, medskul.com. Here you can post anything you want about the Order, it’s activities or members. It’s where discussions are held and announcements are made. Please interact, it’s the forum that keeps the communication flowing. When ever you’re online, don’t forget to drop a message or two, even just a simple, “hi! I’m from Batch XX! I love the Order!” would be great. The site is continuously ondergoing improvements. If you would like to contribute to the site, just let us know. If you have a knack for graphic design, we could use your help. If you love to write we would love to feature your stuff on the site. If you see something that could be improved or some data is missing, you could even go as far as rewrite it yourself and send it through email. Maintaining a website is a lot of work, we could use the help, it’s your site too. We would be happy to give out an exclusive yourname@orderofasclepius.org email address to those who would like to contribute and be part of the development team. If you would like to contact us, Send your comments and suggestions to order@orderofasclepius.org
please support the site, have fun and see you around!
Order's 30th Annivesary - A Calling
October 27, 2006
December 2006 marks the Order’s 30th Pearl Year Anniversary. It has been a long history of struggles and achievements, defeat and getting up, failures and victories. It has been the realization of a dream and vision of 54 young aspiring doctors 30 years ago. And their legacy still persists, burning aflame in the hearts and minds of every succeeding batch, generation after generation.
The College of Medicine would not be complete without the name “Order of Asclepius”. For years, it has shaped and produced countless individuals as competent doctors, now wholeheartedly serving our people in their specialized fields. For years it has provided physical, emotional, financial, academic and social support not only to each other, but to the college and university as well. For years, it has provided service and commitment to our community through outreach programs and medical missions, to lessen the health burdens of our deprived fellow men. The Order has also served as a training ground for students for future practice. We forged bonds of friendship for life within the walls of its office. We have done a lot. We could still do more.
Despite the recognitions, awards, and the merits the Order has gathered and will continue to gather we still stay humble. Despite the criticism and the lampooning they do to us, still we stay respectful.
Despite the unknown future looming on us we still live and abide by the seven tenets of the Order as our personal trait to honor the past.
Indeed it is a fitting tribute to the founding members of the Order and those who came before us who spilled every sweat,. blood, and determination they had to make the Order what it is today.
So as the gods clamored for the placement of Asclepius in the
heavens we also call onto all our brothers and sisters in the Order fulfill their oath and vows, and renew the bonds of friendship formed within these walls. join us in celebrating the glorious past, the present camaraderie with the new members, and the bright future that the Order will work hard on. Join us in December 2006. The 30th Pearl Anniversary of the Order of Asclepius.
